SPU Manila hosts “Are we ready for Grade 12?”

The South Manila Educational Consortium (SMEC) Committee on Curriculum and Instruction, chaired by, held a forum on the sharing of best practices on the implementation of Grade 11 and the issues and concerns in implementing Grade 12. The activity was held on 28 February 2017, 1:00-5:00 PM, in the Founder’s Hall of SPU Manila.
The forum aimed to enable the participants to a) apply the learnings from shared best practices on the implementation of Grade 11 in their workplace; b) come up with solutions to the concerns in implementing Grade 12; and c) build camaraderie and teamwork among the SMEC schools.
Dr. Ma. Encarnacion Dychangco, VP Academic Services of SPU Manila, gave the welcome remarks. Participants from the following SMEC schools attended the activity: Adamson University, Philippine Normal University, Emilio Aguinaldo College, Sta. Isabel College, St. Scholastica’s College, Lyceum of the Philippines University Manila, Philippine Christian University, and St. Paul University Manila. There were also representatives from St. Michael’s College of Laguna, Asian Institute of Computer Studies-Bicutan, San Pedro College of Business and Arts-Laguna , and Abad & Abad & Associates Law Office.
Resource persons were a) Ms. Juanita Ferido, Senior High School Consultant of Emilio Aguinaldo College; b) Sr. Felicitas Bernardo, SPC, Senior High School Principal of SPU Manila; and c) Dr. Lucky Carpio, Principal of the Basic Education Department of Adamson University.
An open forum, facilitated by Dr. Grace Leongson, was held after the talks. This enabled the attendees to raise questions and clarify their thoughts regarding the best practices shared by the speakers. The attendees found the activity informative, helpful, and timely.
