October 12: Three hours from the city of Cardiff , we were welcomed to Aberystwyth University, founded in 1872 as the first University institution in Wales. It is a chartered institution whose Royal Charter was first awarded in 1889. Currently it has six institutes: the Institutes of Arts and Humanities; Biological, Environmental and Rural Sciences; Business and Law; Geography, History, Politics & Psychology; Mathematics, Physics & Computer Science; and Institute of Professional Development. Aberystwyth University is the only university in the UK that offers every student a year’s work placement as part of their degree leading to a very high employability level. The university has been recognized as University of the Year for Teaching Quality 2018.
The group was warmly welcomed by PVC International, Prof. John Grattan, the International Office Director, Ms. Katerina Stivasari-Jones, the Head of Collaborative Provision, Ms. Sue Moss, and the International Partnership Manager, Ms. Catrin Griffiths.
Discussion session around potential collaboration and partnership development areas was held after which the group had a Campus Tour of Aberystwyth University.
