Dr. Brian Bantugan, Director of the Center for Research, Innovation, and Development (CRID), and his team received a special award in the 1st Philippine e-Government Innovation Challenge organized by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and held in the Heritage Hotel in Pasay City.
Solving the problem of hunger in the Philippines, Dr. Bantugan worked with coders from Cebu, Laguna, Cavite, and Rizal from November 24 to 27. His team developed key features of a mobile app, Foodle, that not only enables the circulation of high value information and resource sharing among persons and organizations who may register as information users, fact checkers, and/or food donors, but also provides incentives through corporate partners.
The app, based on Dr. Bantugan’s idea, is a gamified solution to hunger. It was given a special award by MDI Novare, an expert in infrastructure, enterprise software, managed services, and digital transformation via data analytics, cloud, mobility, API and microservices.
The award, recognizing technical excellence, included an Ipad 2018, app development support post-competition, and a co-working space in Ayala, Makati for six months.
