The Director of the National Museum, Mr. Jeremy Barns, recently sent a communication to Sr. Ma. Evangeline Anastacio, SPC, President of St. Paul University Manila, to inform her that a Panel of Experts was convened on 5 December 2018 to consider buildings in Manila that can be declared as National Treasures or Important Cultural Properties. This is in pursuance of pertinent provisions of Presidential Decree No. 374 and Republic Act No. 10066.
In this regard, the Panel of Experts declared two SPU Manila Buildings—the Chapel of the Crucified Christ and the Fleur-de-lis Theater as Important Cultural Properties.
In 2007, the Chapel was declared a National Historical Site and a marker formally installed by Mr. Ambeth Ocampo of the National Historical Commission.
The Fleur-de-lis Theater was blessed in December 1957. A mural by Carlos
“Botong” Francisco welcomes audiences to the theater.
