Growth Session for St. Paul Manila Dormers
in line with Student Services Week Celebration
14 November 2019, 7:00 to 8:30 P.M.
This session was originally intended for students with OFW parents; then it evolved into a session for dormers who are living away from their parents. Parents are typically the ones who should be guiding and helping their children through life’s difficulties and also celebrating their triumphs. Dormers who live away from their parents face the difficult situation of depending on themselves most of the time. Balancing life’s demands without the help from their parents is hard enough, especially without the tools of understanding their emotions and the maturity to persevere in challenges to attain their dreams and aspirations. This session’s goal is to respond to that void. The session also emphasizes the gifts of family relationships and the gratitude that dormers must feel for the blessings that are given to them. Teaching self-efficacy in the context of independence is also highlighted.
The session was attended by 28 SPU Manila dormers and facilitated by guidance counselors, Ms. Cecile Antonio, RGC and Mr. AJ Agojo, RGC. The activity garnered a 3.67 (excellent) evaluation by the participants.
