As part of the Faculty Development Program (Academic Services Division) of the Library Service Unit and Ms. Angelica Gonzales of the College of Business and Management, a Proquest 5000 training was conducted with the objective of providing a good understanding of the content in Proquest databases and showing which search screen to use to get the best results for effective research.
The said training was held on January 16, 2017 in the Computer Laboratory E of St. Paul University Manila. The three-hour hands-on training gave everyone in the laboratory a full update on the databases that the school is using, particularly for searching journals, newspapers, reports, and researches. The participants of the training were full-time faculty members, and graduate and college students. The resource speaker, Mr. Abanto, showcased the latest features of the Proquest 5000, one of which was, that a user can create a user account and the topics he searches for will be saved directly in his account.
The participants were encouraged to ask questions so the open forum was a venue for healthy interactions.
