People encounter situations that test how far their kindness and gratitude can get.
At the height of the recent Taal Volcano eruption, the university conducted a series of relief operations in order to help and contribute to the well-being of affected families.
At past eight o'clock in the second morning of the University Week, a prayer for the victims was offered at the SPU Manila quadrangle. It was led by the members of the Campus Ministry and participated in by the whole Paulinian Community. Candles were lit as an offering beside a wish board, on which short motivational letters for the victims were posted.
“Tulungang St. Paul,” a relief drive for the victims, was launched after the prayer. The drive served as a moment of unity—a symbol of "Bayanihan"—for all who were willing to share their effort and time to help those in need by repacking the goods that were donated by the students, faculty, and other school personnel. The event was a testament that Paulinians were willing to set individual differences aside and act positively to help others.
Bangon Batangas, karamay ninyo kami!
