The Department of Education (DepEd), through its Regional and Division Offices of Manila, conducted a successful ocular inspection of St. Paul University Manila’s Kindergarten to Grade 10 facilities as the institution prepares to expand its educational offerings to include the Basic Education Program. The inspection on May 7, 2025 involved a comprehensive assessment of the university’s readiness to cater to younger learners. Representatives from DepEd carefully evaluated SPUM’s classrooms, science laboratories, libraries, and student support areas. Satisfaction was expressed with the university’s infrastructure.

SPUM’s facilities were deemed to have met DepEd’s safety, quality, and learning environment requirements. Key features noted by the team include a separate playground for kindergarten and lower-grade kids’ physical mobility and social interaction, as well as extensive laboratory facilities for experiential learning in science and technology topics.

What sets SPUM apart is its unique Music Therapy Center, a specialized facility that integrates the university’s strong tradition in music and wellness. This center is envisioned to play a vital role in promoting students’ emotional well-being and mental health, an increasingly important aspect of holistic education. Through music therapy, students are expected to benefit from improved concentration, emotional regulation, and overall school engagement.

The ocular visit represents a significant milestone for SPUM as it moves closer to officially opening its doors to K-10 learners. University officials expressed their excitement about this new chapter, highlighting that the institution’s long-standing commitment to Paulinian formation, character development, and academic excellence will now extend to a younger generation of students.   With the successful inspection, the university is poised to make a meaningful contribution to the DepEd’s goals of accessible, inclusive, and high-quality education for all Filipino learners.
