MANILA, Philippines — The Grace in Expectation Scholarship Fund Project grew from a personal encounter where art, memory, and education converged into a shared vision for the future. The idea began when alumna, Chiqui Escareal-Go, encountered sculptor, Julie Lluch’s work at the St. Paul University Manila (SPUM) Centennial Garden. In the sculpture, she saw more than artistic expression—she saw a bridge between creativity and scholarship, and a call to transform inspiration into opportunity. From that moment emerged the intention to establish a scholarship that supports students as they shape their own journeys. Rooted in the Paulinian spirit of Caritas Christi Urget Nos, the initiative reflects a formation grounded in compassion, courage, and service. For Escareal-Go, the project extends her belief that education forms better Filipinos for a better Philippines—individuals whose growth strengthens families, communities, and the nation.

Echoing this vision, SPUM President Sr. Evangeline Anastacio shared, “Education is how we live out Caritas Christi Urget Nos in real and lasting ways. When we invest in a young person’s formation, we nurture not only competence, but a heart ready to serve others.” Central to the campaign is the limited-edition sculpture “Mary Immaculate Expectant” by award-winning artist Julie Lluch, with only thirty pieces created. Each work represents participation in a living mission—allowing art to become a pathway that supports scholars and extends a legacy of mentorship and generosity.

More than financial assistance, Grace in Expectation represents continuity—a reminder that many journeys begin because someone chose to believe early. Through exhibits, partnerships, and community engagement, the scholarship seeks to connect artistic expression with educational access and lasting impact. The Grace in Expectation Scholarship Fund Project invites alumni, partners, and advocates to help shape this legacy.
