Computer Science students of St. Paul University Manila won first place in the Intercollegiate Java Programming Competition organized by the Technological Institute of the Philippines Manila and held on September 23, 2015.

Thirteen teams from different colleges and universities in Metro Manila and Laguna, including one from SPU Manila, participated in the programming competition. The team from SPU Manila was composed of Alvin Betoya and Marvin Dexter Cruz.

The participants had to solve five complex mathematical programming problems in two hours. The SPU Manila team was able to solve four problems.

The SPU Manila team believe that it was their “recipe” that made them win: deep knowledge in basic mathematics and algorithm, strengthened by good teamwork, and ability to withstand pressure.
