Paulinian Student Government Holds Annual Leadership Training

The SPU Manila Student Affairs Office and the Supreme Student Council, together with the Paulinian Student Government, held the Annual Leadership Training on July 17, 2024 at the Founder’s Hall and on July 18 at the Levesville Hall of SPUM.
The much-anticipated Day 1 of the Leadership Training started off with an Opening Prayer led by Juvin Casanova, SSC President, followed by the singing of the National Anthem.
Subsequently, Sr. Nicole de Marie Dabalus, SPC, VP for Christian Formation and Student Services, delivered the Opening Remarks and Perspective Setting. In her speech, Sistergreeted the student leaders and wished them well on their road towards development. She exhorted the student leaders to act towards the outcome of “guiding the flock," stressing that leadership "is not merely a position or title but it is an action, an example, an inspiration to others."
Following the Opening Remarks, Ms. Marjimae Lorenzo, Head of Student Affairs Office, briefed the student leaders on their roles and responsibilities as leaders in the co-curricular andextracurricular organizations and college student councils. In addition, student leaders took part in a sharing exercise,"Paulinian Compass," where participants discussed their leadership styles and experiences.
Ms. Kai Soriano-Sta, Cruz, the eagerly anticipated guest speaker, kicked off the afternoon session. Ms. Kai, also known as "Coach Kai," spoke to the Paulinian student leaders about self-mastery, which is the capacity to take charge of one's own life by self-awareness. She also underlined that in order to effectively lead their followers, leaders must develop their ability to think, feel, communicate, act, and lead.
SSC President, Juvin Casanova, then presented a report and the schedule of events for School Year 2024–2025.
The first day of the leadership training was formally concluded with Josef Dator, SSC Treasurer, leading the closing prayer.
On the exciting Day 2 of the training, student leaders formedgroups and engaged in team-building activities to foster new relationships and trust among Paulinian student leaders. SSC Vice President, Ms. Leanne Lagunda, led the Opening Prayer for the day, followed by the presentations by groups, each with itsname and chant. The teams soon proceeded to their designated stations in order to begin playing.
During the afternoon session, all Paulinian student leaders formed a line for the Trust Walk while wearing their blindfolds,whereby they successfully overcame the challenges placed in their path by relying on themselves, their voices, and the people around them. The student leaders then shared their opinions and ideas about what they had discovered during the Trust Walk and the morning games during the processing.
The exciting leadership training concluded with the announcement of the morning sessions' winners and a photo opportunity of the whole Paulinian Student Government for S.Y. 2024–2025.
