Scholarships

Upon recommendation of the Team on Scholarships and Grants Program, and approval by the President, the University accepts deserving students who need financial assistance. A student, however, shall enjoy only one scholarship at a time. A student wanting a scholarship grant from the government or other internal/external agencies or organizations, and at the same time qualified for a University scholarship, is given the discretion to choose which to avail of. Further, commission of any sanctionable acts can be a ground for the disqualification of a scholarship

Scholarships and Grants Program

Entrance Scholars

SHS Valedictorian – 100% tuition subsidy for one semester
SHS Salutatorian – 50% tuition subsidy for one semester

Requirements:

  1. Certificate of Academic Ranking
  2. Application Letter addressed to the VP for Academics and Research
  3. Copy of Original SHS Card or copy of grades in the previous semester, authenticated and endorsed by the Registrar’s Office.

Academic Scholarship

President’s List
The student must achieve a grade of 95% or above, with no grade lower than 90% in any course. A corresponding tuition fee discount will be deducted for the next term.

Dean’s List
The student must achieve a grade of 93% or above, with no grade lower than 88% in any course. A corresponding tuition fee discount will be deducted for the next term.

Requirements:

  1. Student must carry at least an 18-unit load
  2. Copy of grades for the past semester

Student Assistance Program

Scholars under this program are entitled to a 100% tuition fee subsidy and a 75% discount on miscellaneous fees. In return, they are required to render a total of 270 hours of service for the regular semester and 90 hours during the special term. Student Assistants may carry an academic load of 18 units per semester. Exclusions from this scholarship grant are Nursing, Computer Science, IT, HRM, ABMC, and Tourism Programs.

Education Grant

Grantees under this program are entitled to a 100% tuition and miscellaneous fees subsidy. In return, they are required to render 120 hours of service within the regular semester and 60 hours during the special term. Education Grantees may carry a full academic load per semester. The grant is open only to those who wish to pursue Education and Music Education Programs.

Tertiary Education Subsidy

Under Republic Act 10931, otherwise known as the Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act, which aims to provide financial assistance to underprivileged students enrolled in CHED-recognized State Universities and Colleges, Local Universities and Colleges, and private Higher Education Institutions to increase access to higher education. CHED facilitates the processing and approval through its UNIFAST Department. Students who are interested in availing such a program may directly apply to CHED.

P.D. 451

As a further condition to any grant of increase in tuition or other school fees, private schools with a total enrollment of at least 1,000 are hereby required to provide free scholarships to poor but deserving students at a ratio of 1 scholarship for every 500 students enrolled.

H.O.P.E Ablaze

This scholarship is open to all students of St. Paul University Manila. It varies depending on the availability of funds from the benefactors. The recipients usually enjoy a specified discount on tuition fees within one year. Renewal of this scholarship depends on the benefactors and compliance of the recipients with the requirements.

Tulong Dunong Program

This program aims to support at least the partial cost of tertiary education, inclusive of education-related expenses of the grantee. It is a subsidy under the Tertiary Education Subsidy Program.

P.D. 577

Any dependent of military personnel who died or were incapacitated in line of duty shall be exempted from the payment of tuition and matriculation fees.

Mother Bernard

This is open to dependents of all regular employees who have rendered at least 10 years of service to St. Paul University Manila, and are still connected at the time of application. Such privilege will automatically end once the employee has retired or employment is terminated. For married employees, their beneficiaries will be limited to their first three children, while unmarried employees’ beneficiaries will include siblings and nieces/nephews. The discount is determined by the President or the Finance Office.

  • Letter of Intent addressed to the University President and/or VP for Students Services
  • Duly accomplished application form
  • At least an Average Score in the Entrance Examination of St. Paul University Manila
  • SHS Report Card/ Transcript of Records (original and photocopy), GPA of at least 83% with no grades below 80% in all subjects
  • Income Tax Return of Parents (original and photocopy)/ Certificate of Indigency
  • Letter of Recommendations/ Certificate of Good Moral Character from SHS Principal/ Class Adviser/ Guidance Counsellor
  • Personal Interview with the Vice President for Student Services together with Parent/Guardian

Weighted Mean for Evaluation

    1.00 – 1.75     Poor
    1.76 – 2.50     Fair
    2.51 – 3.25     Satisfactory
    3.26 – 4.00     Excellent

 

Procedure For Admission Of Student Assistant & Education Grantee

  1. Received the following requirements:
    • Letter of Intent addressed to the VP for Students Services
    • Duly accomplished application form
    • At least an Average Score in the Entrance Examination of St. Paul University Manila
    • SHS Report Card/ Transcript of Records (original and photocopy), GPA of at least 83% with no grades below 80% in all subjects
    • Letter of Recommendation/ Certificate of Good Moral Character from SHS Principal/ Class Adviser/ Guidance Counselor
    • Income Tax Return of Parents (original and photocopy)
  2. Personal Interview of Student Assistant applicant together with Parent/Guardian, with the Team Lead for the Scholarships and Grants Program.
  3. Facilitate the signing of the Student Assistant Scholar contract with the presence of the parents.
  4. Orient the Student Assistant Scholar and his/her parent/guardian about the regulations of Scholarships and Grants Program.
  5. Assign the Student Assistant Scholar to an office; coordinate with the immediate head for the orientation of the scholars.
  6. Evaluate the Student Assistant Scholar at the end of every semester for renewal of scholarship.
  7. Reasons for not being renewed is caused by any of the following:
    • Grade below 80% in a certain subject
    • Evaluation result below 2.50
    • Failure to complete the 270 duty hours in one semester
    • Violations/ Disciplinary actions
