Development of an Outline of Contents for a Textbook on Infectious and Tropical Diseases for Filipino Nursing Students

Abstract

The study produced an outline of contents for a nursing textbook on infectious and tropical diseases that can be used by Filipino nursing students. An Integrative Literature Review using the keywords book development, infectious, and tropical diseases nursing book and Delphi Technique (three rounds survey) were utilized. The outline of contents was presented. Experts in the field of infectious and tropical institution from reputable organizations evaluated the outline. The results of the study catalyzed an outline of contents as divided into several chapters such as Introduction, Fecal-Oral Diseases, Vector-Borne Diseases, Air-Borne Diseases, Sexually Transmitted Infection, Emerging and Re-emerging Diseases, and Neglected Tropical Diseases. It is recommended that the developed outline be presented to the Association of Deans of Philippine Colleges of Nursing (ADPCN) and the Department of Health (DOH) for dissemination, copyrighting, and immediately develop a textbook for Infectious and Tropical Disease that can be used by Filipino nursing students.
