Paulinian Singing Bee Contest enlivens Day 1 of SPU Manila University Week 2023

The 2023 University Week started with a bang as Singing Bee kicked off with contestants from different colleges on January 24, 2023, at the SPU Manila Quadrangle. The contest was hosted by Edward Cardaño from the College of Business and Management.

Five groups from various colleges and senior high school strands participated in the Singing Bee, a first in the history of the SPU Manila University Week.

Group 4 won with four out of five songs guessed, followed by Group 3 with three, resulting in their advancement to the next round.

The Singing Bee involved both guessing the missing lyrics and the title of the song in each of the easy, average, and hard levels.

Sean Justine Barbo, Henriette Almoite, and Phoebe Miranda won in the Easy Round;  Djordane Flores, Gimver Celis, and Kierstine Angelyn Madrigal won in the average round; and Carl Justin Vizcarra, Clarence Matthew Jimenez, and Djordane Flores advanced to the last part of the game to compete for the grand prize.

As the tiebreaker round finished, an alumnus and a cellist from the College of Music and Performing Arts serenaded the students, followed by an intermission by CMPA's band, playing “Bring Me to Life” by Evanescence.
