The Office of the Vice President for Academics and Research Services, headed by Dr. Mary Grace Leongson, in collaboration with the Student Welfare and Development Office, initiated the Kumustahan 2023 in the Mother Gabriel Meeting Room on April 27, 2023. The event was dedicated to lending an ear to suggestions of the Paulinian community on what can be improved in the school.
Student leaders from the different colleges were in attendance to represent their respective classes and batches. The Supreme Student Council officers were present, together with the Head of the Student Welfare and Development Office, Ms. Mary Marjiemae Lorenzo, RPm, RGC, who spearheaded the event. They were welcomed by Dr. Leongson, who also shared the objectives of the Kumustahan.
Students first shared what for them were the best practices in SPU Manila. Several commended the professors for being approachable and considerate when it comes to academic compliance, with one stating that the faculty are more approachable during their face-to-face experience. A student also mentioned that the block schedule was flexible. The Outcomes Based Education was also lauded, distinguishing SPU Manila from other universities. One student expressed contentment with the affiliations of the institution with other corporations and industries.
The points of improvement of the institution were also raised in the meeting. Recommendations mostly centered on schedule concerns, improvement in marketing and promotion, and further visibility of the school externally and digitally, among other concerns, which the Vice President acknowledged and assured were to be referred to all concerned offices and departments.
