SPU MANILA PRESIDENT JOINS JAPAN EDUCATIONAL BENCHMARKING PROGRAM

Sr. Ma. Evangeline Anastacio, SPC, St. Paul University Manila President, participated in a five-day immersion, which took place in Japan on 13-17 March 2023. This program, which highlighted benchmarking on the best academic practices and educational system of Japan, was sponsored by Quipper Philippines, an e-learning service provider. The company invited educators from the Philippines to be one with them in an academic undertaking geared towards constantly bettering the face of the country’s educational system to bring it at par with global standards.

Sister Evangeline was invited to join the program as she is the current Program Regional Director of the Private Education Assistance Committee-National Capital Region (PEAC-NCR). As such, her involvement in and commitment to Quipper’s endeavors that impact this country’s revolutionary educational system shall largely benefit those who are in the frontlines of molding young minds, whose future educators collectively hope to shape.

The main objective of the benchmarking program was for the educational administrators to immerse themselves in the 21st century teaching and learning practices implemented in Japan, a highly developed Asian neighbor. It was hoped that through this immersion, the participants may be inspired to contextualize the best practices and use them in the Philippines’ educational system. The sponsoring company, Quipper, hopes to be instrumental in heading towards the direction shared by PEAC in promoting global competence. The program was participated in by 48 school administrators from all over the Philippines, 17 of whom are serving the PEAC National and Regional Secretariats.

The schedule of the five-day program included: DAY 1: ARRIVAL-Shibuya Crossing + Hachiko Statue; DAY 2: TOKYO SCHOOL VISIT-Hiroo Gakuen Junior and Senior High School; Kaetsu Ariake Junior and Senior High School; DAY 3: TOKYO SIGHTSEEING TOUR-Study Sapuri Office; Sushi making experience with lunch; Shin Yokohama Ramen Museum; Yokohama Cosmo World; DAY 4: MT. FUJI-HAKONE TOKYO TOUR-Mt. Fuji Hakone; Gotemba Premium Outlet; DAY 5: TOKYO DEPARTURE.

According to Sr. Evangeline, the program was a very enlightening educational experience, and indeed, as Quipper had said, “a collaboration for a common goal: all for the love of learning and learners!”
