On November 19, 2022, the SPU Manila Chorale went to the Malate Church to serenade the parish patron, Our Lady of Remedies, on her feast as a part of their annual Harana Kay Maria event. This endeavor is a commitment continued by the group as the late Sr. Ma. Anunciata Sta. Ana, SPC, Dean of the College of Music and the Performing Arts, made a promise to let them perform in the parish annually for the Blessed Mother. Two years after her passing, they continue to live up to her word.
The group sang four pieces, starting with their two primaries, “Ora Pro Nobis,” composed by their conductor, Oliver Neil Rodriguez, just for the event, and “Magnificat,” composed by Jude Gitamondoc and Rev. Fr. Randy Figuracion, SDB. The latter has been provided with a choral arrangement by NJ Bañes.
The other two pieces performed were “O God Beyond All Praising” and “Awit sa Birhen Delos Remedios.”
The university chorale was joined by Our Lady of Remedies Parish Choir, MCC Priests, Columban Seminarians, DBPSC Choir, Aurora A. Quezon Elementary School Children’s Choir, and UP Manila Chorale at the event.
